The speed of raindrops with respect to ground is c) 10 m/s
  • Assuming the situation as a right angled triangle.
  • His speed when he runs = 6 m/s ([tex]v_{m}[/tex]) in x-axis
  • Angle of incline = 37 degrees w.r.t to the vertical
  • Let the speed of rain be v[tex]_{r}[/tex] but w.r.t to man the speed of rain is v[tex]_{m}[/tex] (x axis) -v(y axis)

         tan 37° = [tex]\frac{6}{v}[/tex]

             [tex]\frac{3}{4} =\frac{6}{v} \\v= 8[/tex]

Therfore speed of rain = 6i - 8j

Total numerical value of speed of rain is [tex]\sqrt{6^{2}+8^{2}\\[/tex]

                                                                   [tex]\sqrt{36+64}[/tex]

                                                                  = 10 m/s
