(a) Following WWII, America founded the Organization for European Economic Cooperation (OECC) as part of the Marshall Plan.
(b) The European capitalist countries' economic integration progressed in a systematic manner, culminating in the establishment of the Council of Europe in 1949.
(c) As a result, the European Economic Community was established in 1957. In 1992, following the disintegration of the Soviet Union, EuropeanUnion was formed.
The Asean Union-
(a) The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was founded in 1967 by the signing of the Bangkok Declaration by five Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
(b) ASEAN countries have embraced the "ASEAN Way" as an informal, non-confrontational, and cooperative mode of contact.
(c) In 2003, ASEAN began the process of forming an ASEAN Community, which would consist of three pillars: the ASEAN Security Community, the ASEAN Economic Community, and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community.
