2(i) Curved surface area of the cylinder made by Geeta is 251.2 cm²
(ii) Volume of the cylinder made by Meena is 301.44 cm²
Given:
Geeta has 10 CDs each of radius 4 cm and thickness 1 cm.
Meena has 6 CDs each of radius 4 cm and thickness 1 cm.
They place their CD one above the other to form solid cylinders.
To Find:
(i) Curved surface area of the cylinder made by Geeta.
(ii) Volume of the cylinder made by Meena.
Solution:
Surface area of a cylinder = 2πrh
Volume of a cylinder = πr²h
r = radius of cylinder , h = height of cylinder
Step 1:
Calculate height of cylinder formed by Geeta
= Height of each CD x Number of Cds
= 1 * 10
= 10 cm
Step 2:
Calculate Surface area of a cylinder made by Geeta
= 2πrh
= 2π(4)(10)
= 80π cm²
Using π = 3.14
= 251.2 cm²
Step 3:
Calculate height of cylinder formed by Meena
= Height of each CD x Number of Cds
= 1 * 6
= 6 cm
Step 4:
Calculate Volume of a cylinder made by Meena
= πr²h
= π(4)²(6)
= 96π cm²
Using π = 3.14
=301.44 cm²
(i) Curved surface area of the cylinder made by Geeta is 251.2 cm²
(ii) Volume of the cylinder made by Meena is 301.44 cm²
