SOILS IN LADAKH

Majority of the soils in Leh and Kargil district are sandy to sandy loam in texture and medium to medium-high (e"0.75%) in organic matter with poor water holding capacity. The pH ranged from 5.65 to 10.12 in Leh and pH of Kargil varied from 6.57-9.47.
