What is the name given to heat radiated by the Earth?

Answer:

Energy radiated from Earth's surface as heat, or infrared radiation, is absorbed and re-radiated by greenhouse gases, impeding the loss of heat from our atmosphere to space. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere repeatedly absorb and re-radiate infrared radiation (heat).

Answer:

The heat radiated by the earth is called Infrared radiations.

Explanation:

Continuous solar radiations are let out by the sun that reach the earth's surface either getting absorbed or re-radiated into the atmosphere and is called long-wave radiation. Although it is invisible, we can still feel the heat.

The re-radiated heat depends on a number of factors including:

  • Concentration of greenhouse gases: The gases absorb and re-radiate the solar radiation, thereby increasing the earth's average temperature.
  • The pattern and distribution of clouds: Thin and high clouds are cooler than the earth's surface thus, they absorb much of the heat. In contrast, thick and low clouds have a higher temperature and so they reflect most of the heat in this way they also contribute to the greenhouse effect.
