The turmeric paper indicator turns red when it is dipped into a basic solution.
The turmeric paper indicator does not change its colour with acid.
- Various types of liquids will give the following colour:
- Water (neutral): no change
- Detergent (basic): yellow to reddish-orange
- Oil : (slightly basic ) not much change observed slight reddish effect as the ph of oil is 10.
To make the indicator take a tablespoonful of turmeric powder and add a little water and make a paste.
