Given: Ratio of number of story books to that of non story book is 4:3 and total story books are 1248 in number.

To Find: Books bought to make the new ratio as 5:3.

Solution: In the given question, we  know that ratio of number of story book to non story book is 4:3 and total story books are 1248.

So, by the ratio we can write as:-

4/3 = (1248) / (number of non story books)

number of non story books = 1248×(3/4)

number of non story books =936

As we know that the books to be added be B then (Story Book)/ (Non story Book) = 5/3

then we can simplify it as (1248+B)/(936)=5/3

so we will get 1248 + B = 1560

then B= 1560-1248

B=312 is the number of books added

Hence, we have to add 312 number of  story books to make the new ratio as 5/3
