1. Both were under colonial governments:India was under the British rule for almost one-and-a-half centuries. India got itsindependence in 1947; while Brazil was under Portuguese rule. Brazil gained its independence in 1822. From 1930 to 1985, for more than a half century, Brazil was under a populist military government.
2. Both faced financialfinancial difficulties.Management of resources and its proper utilization within the country were challenges for both countries. Now both are developing countries and major exporters to world (e.g. sugarcane, coffee)
