The plant absorbs phosphorus in the form of ortho phosphorous(H3PO4). and absorb it through the roots by the process of diffusion.
In alkaline and acidic soil, phosphate is not taken up by plants because in acidic soil it gets reacted with iron and aluminium while in alkaline it is reacted with calcium hence, inapproachable for plants.
