A circular side of hemisphere of radius 3 cm is kept on a rectangular sheet of dimensions 7 cm x 9 cm. Find the surface area of the combined figure.​

Given:

Hemisphere with radius r = 3 cm

A rectangular sheet of length = 7 cm and breadth = 9 cm.

To Find:

the surface area of the combined figure.​

Solution:

The Total surface area will be =

( The area of sheet + curved surface area of the hemisphere - area covered by hemisphere on sheet )

Area of rectangular sheet = l × b = 7 × 9 = 63 cm²

CSA of hemisphere = 2πr² = 2 × 22/7 × (3)² = 18π cm²

Area covered by hemisphere on sheet = πr² = π(3)² = 9π cm²

The Total surface area will be = (63 + 18π - 9π )

                                                 ( 63 + 9π)

                                                 = 63 + 28.27

                                                 = 91.27 cm²

Hence, the surface area of the combined figure is 91.27 cm².
